A Stark minimalist track about The Finnish Santa, this stems from my interest in Finnish & Scandinavian folklore. And I wanted to do something about Joulupukki, The song was inspired by the film "Rare Exports" by Jalmari Helander.
lyrics
A MIDWINTER YULE A TALE OF JOULUPUKKI
From the dark Northern forests, ancient and deep. A tale of legends begins...
A primeval force borne of nature, in the archaic forests of Moorsfest. an immense forboding figure a behemoth bearded being, adorned in blood red and green. Come Joulupukki.
A guardian of our Midwinter festival, boiling the bad, and left those who believe!
He is every part of yule dark and mysterious, The Aurora floats solidified. Hanging glowing green, and red. Underneath on his sled, carved long ago. Made in the cold grimness of winter, reindeer ride along a snowy landscape.
At Christmas time, at Christmas time. Blood at Christmas time crimson on snow, crimson on white. his elfs waiting on Christmas night...
Descending into Darkness The Tale of a Mentally Ill Troll
Spiraling into blackened despair and madness, this troll tormented beyond recognition. The forest feels strange, black but not as it should. A vast canopy of refuge, torn from what is known.
Endless hours in a void of disturbing nightmares, birds chatter above. An asylum of fear, the troll could once understand their song. The wind a companion that no longer calls.
Now a strange eerie haunted world that engulfs him, the trees all black and poisoned hard like steel. Cold groaning ruptured, as pain horrid nagging pulsates through our trolls fragile mind.
Hypnotised staring into the smudged charcoal forest, moving and changing. As he weaves further into insanity, this giant lumbering troll.
Its got to be some of the best Black Metal I have heard, hard driving frosty riffs, with a great rhythm section throughout! With unearthly vocals, very brutal with some dark ambient interludes. Megrymmtröll
A very impressive debut, from this Canadian band. The song writing, is very intricate and has great diversity. With a neat production, good choppy riffs with a nice edge. Megrymmtröll
The haunting music of Morita Vargas floats her heavily manipulated voice over hypnotic rhythms from the kalimba, the cajón, and more. Bandcamp New & Notable Oct 25, 2020
As the name might suggest, this latest LP from experimental duo Isolated Community is full of a sense of haunting uneasiness. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 24, 2023
